Every time I see the picture of Salvatore Maranazano, victor of the Castellammarese Wars and and Capo Di Tutti Capo for a few months until Luciano dropped him, I don't see the hardened mob guy. The picture makes him look like a mild mannered fop. Then I ran across this other picture that is purported to also be Maranzno, but it doesn't look "real"  I know photography in the 20's had advanced, because we have very good pictures of all the other guys.....so what do you think?  Same Guy

Same mouth, same hooded eyes, same mark on the forehead..

Different hairline, the nose looks different (though that may be an angle)

The new picture, looks like a friggin mob boss to me.

So would the real Salvatore Maranzano please stand up?

Eh...never mind, take a rest. (After Luciano's friends had their meeting)

Side question, in the movie "Mobsters" with Christian Slater as Luciano they kept Masseria's story intact, but they changed Maranzano's name to Faranzano and changed the way he was killed....any one have a clue as to why they made that change?

Modern scholars believe that its seeds were planted in the upheaval of Sicilyâââ‰â¢s transition out of feudalism in 1812 and its later annexation by mainland Italy in 1860. Under feudalism, the nobility owned most of the land and enforced law and order through their private armies. After 1812, the feudal barons steadily sold off or rented their lands to private citizens. Primogeniture was abolished, land could no longer be seized to settle debts, and one fifth of the land was to become private property of the peasants. After Italy annexed Sicily in 1860, it redistributed a large share of public and church land to private citizens. The result was a huge boom in landowners: from 2,000 in 1812 to 20,000 by 1861. The nobles also released their private armies to let the state take over the task of law enforcement. However, the authorities were incapable of properly enforcing property rights and contracts, largely due to their inexperience with free market capitalism. Lack of manpower was also a problem: there were often less than 350 active policemen for the entire island. Some towns did not have any permanent police force, only visited every few months by some troops to collect malcontents, leaving criminals to operate with impunity from the law in the interim. With more property owners came more disputes that needed settling, contracts that needed enforcing, and properties that needed protecting. Because the authorities were undermanned and unreliable, property owners turned to extralegal arbitrators and protectors. These extralegal protectors would eventually organize themselves into the first Mafia clans.

Banditry was a growing problem at the time. Rising food prices, the loss of public and church lands, and the loss of feudal common rights pushed many desperate peasants to banditry. In response, local elites in countryside towns recruited young men into âââ¬Ãâcompanies-at-armsâââ¬

Matteo's Boxing Mod

Part of Capoletti 2  I made this mod available separate to work in place of the tutorial. A grimy boxing rink. five opponents from a little girl to a badass and 300 health points, beat them all and survive to win the most money.

Okay, rules.

1. Post a picture, or map or overhead or anything else that will give us a clue where Carmine is holed up (anyone can post)

2. The place must be Mafia Related Some How

3. Post Originally with no clues, then , add new clues each day until someone gets it

4. we will arbitrarily say ten points for a correct guess, and you are in charge of keeping your own score

From the beginning it bugged me that they never did anything with this, I tought of doing things with it, but it would clog traffic...Just one of the interesting things that someone thought about, made part of the main map, then never really did anything with it.

Mafia Mod Request / New Mod Question
October 17, 2012, 04:34:32 AM
Alright, I am experimenting with a new mod Idea and just throwing things on the game and seeing if they work

I am thinking of having a San Francisco Mob location so I am playing with the Golden Gate Bridge, which was under construction in the mid 1930's

the problem I am having is with a model that is not showing up unless I am right on it, I can't see it from far off

This is the close view

This is the far view

I have the view distance set way back, and removed all the occluders. There is no cache.bin so i did't use UDD

Although I tried the same set up in freeride with the same results, UDD applied,

Any ideas on how to get this thing to show long distance?

Matteo's Mods / Mafia 2 Mods
November 02, 2012, 04:18:39 PM
Somewhere at the soon after Mafia 2 Came out, I tried modding it, and was gravely disappointed with my efforts, as I was with the game.  In the two years hence, I have softened somewhat on the game and even enjoy playing it on occasion

When Costa broke the game and found and released his freeride mode, there was a glimmer of hope.  So I tried again

I called my freeride mod Redemption Mod because I had hopes of really changing it. Redeeming the game from what I thought back then was awful

Basically it is freeride, with a couple of additions.  V1.3 is where I stopped, and put away the game. (In version 1 Joe would start in random places and it was your job to find and kill him, but I could not find away to tweak the game so Joe and Henry,  could be killed.  So  I made Henry  the capo and Vito goes to the Freddy's , clicks on Henry and gets one of 25 missions that roll in order. These missions appear as text on the screen (I could not make Henry talk)  and they ONLY work in English. He also pays you for each mission, then you go on your own and do everything from blowing up diners and gas stations to keeping the police busy on the other side of town, while the family pulls something on this side.

Joe is at the OTHER bar the Maltese Falcon and you can pick him up for a ride along and help....if you can stand his bitching about your driving  ;o)

Some features

Invicibility  (would it be a matteo mod without it?)

Saves at the Garages

Saves when you go to sleep

Seasons Change when you go to sleep

Weapons Recharge when you sleep

Joe and Henry are at their Homes at night

Henry gives you 30 missions

Joe will ride along

V1.2 game with a fully stocked garage, Gun Locker and clothes closet, but I dialed those all back for Version 1.3

Costa and Gvosden get fulll credits for their work that I built off of.

Like I said I have stopped modding mafia 2 but I might as well share it.

...but me?

I had left mafiascene.net a while ago, gave up posting my work until a certain individual who remain nameless (AsaSK) dragged me back to mafiascene.com

So I started posting there... Got into making little movies with mafia, and greatly increased the scope of Capoletti  Family Legacy Mod - which is still progress. Noticing a distinct lack of participation in a 11 year old game I started thinking of hanging it up.....again.   But I can't...this thing of ours is stuck with me. SO...when I saw that .net and .com were cooperating, I thought I would come back and refresh my stuff here, and update the Capoletti 2 post

So love me or hate me (Darren)  here I am again " data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/wink@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">
