2009 Mods / MAFIA II - GC09 mod
August 11, 2012, 01:16:48 PM
Hello group 2009,
sounds interresting <img src="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile.png" alt="" data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">
I think one of the biggest problems for modding MAII are the compiled/crypted LUA Scripts.
Some weeks ago i dl'ed all the LUAdec stuff.
I tried to understand the src, made comments und setted up a debug evironment.
Unluckily i used a virtualmachine for that, by accident i resetted this VM, so all my efforts was lost.
well, doesnt really matter, because there was not much results yet.
I had most of the .luac from MaII extracted with ricks tools and run throug luadec.
The result was not satisfying and luadec crashed or stopped with errors, when the run was completed
there was a lot of unresolved / missing code in the result.
Well the lua interpreter inside mafiaII.exe can execute the code, so there schould be a possibilty
to decompile it.
- its not a binary optimized code like a modern c-compiler would generate
- if you open an extracted .luac from MAII with an editor (e.g. notepad++) you still
can see/guess what the code does
But luadec would need some seriuos work to get the correct decompiling done.
Althoug i think that 2k "cooks there own soup with the .luac" (something special and not standard in the
lua headers)
In any case, succesful decompiling of the .luac's would be a greath breakthrough for maII modding.
greetings

eXistenZ34's Mods / Free Ride for DLC Joe's Adventures v3.0
August 11, 2012, 10:42:32 AM
Hello All,
just newly registered here.
FR JA 3.0 works great for me.
Until now (played about 6hours) i had only a endless loading screen when i was using the Tram teleport.
Thank you so much eXistenZ34 for this mod.
And thanks to all other modders/contributors here.
Its nice to enter the the cathouse in FR JA3.0.
But still missing the poplulation like in the regular DLC mission.
I tried once to anlayze / decompile that missionscript, without success.
But so far as i could see, its crapy programmed and i wonder that it works.
Holy crap i think that programmer must have been drunk <img src="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile.png" alt="" data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">
I don't understand why people of 2k czech try to avoid any successful moddings of maII ?.
(- like crypting all the .lua code, disabling modder menus in updates etc. .)
If you look at Biowares "Dragon Age Originis", for example.
Bioware gave the users a SDK / Toolset and the modding scene there is STILL active.
There is a huge amount of playalbe mods and that was a good thing for bioware itself.
I know a very nice freeware tool for handling Mod Installtion/Deinstallation with AutoBackup
of the original files. Because it would be offtopic here i will look to find the correct
forum to post infos about it.
So thats if for the moment.

Mafia II mods / Re: Freeware Tool for Mod Handling
August 11, 2012, 11:25:46 AM
Hello All.
there is a freeware tool that i know and use for MafiaII to easy activate/deactivate mods with a simple click.
Because it look so good and handy to me, i thoutht i tell you about it.
Would it be nice, to run FR JA 3.0 exe to depack its content to specified directory, start a program
click a button, and the mod is installed, all original files are backuped, a with a second click
the mod is deactivated , means all original files are back in place ?
If this sounds goot to you continue reading " data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">
The Program im speaking of is called "Generic Mode Enabler" JSGME from JoneSoft.
it was orginally developed for SilentHunterIII Mod Handling, but it is a unviversal tool.
the original developer website doesnt exist any more, but if you google
"Generic Mode Enabler JSGME downlaod" you will find some links.(just right now verified that)
Its very tiny, only about 400k of size.
If you have downloaded and depacked the archive,do the following:
copy "JSGME.exe" to your mafia IIpc folder and run the program once.
It will create the folder MODS by default. this is place where you copy your mods in.
Example of "FR JA 3.0 exe" Mod installation using JSGME:
1. Change to mafia IIpcMODS folder
2. Create a new folder Here and name it "FR JA 3.0" (this is name that will be displaye inside JGSME)
3. Run "FR JA 3.0 exe" and select the directory crated above to extract the files.
4. Now you should have the followin file structure:
mafia IIpcMODSFR JA 3.0pcdlcs....
4. IMPORTANT : Move the folder "dlcs" from pc to FR JA 3.0 (one lvl up)
now you can delete the empty pc folder its not any more needed.
5. Start JSGME , select "FR JA 3.0" in the left window and press the ">" button to install the mod.
6. Run Mafia II , enjoy FR JA 3.0.
7. Yo want to play cathouse mission of original DLC, just deinstall with "<" button (in seconds " data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">
and vice versa :
Because pictures says more than thousands of words. i'll try to show some Pics here now.
Example FileStructure in the MODs Dir:
JSGME before mod install
JSGME after mod FR JA 3.0 activation (use "<" do disable the mod and restore original files)
Example View of backuped original files for Mod FR JA 3.0:
Now you can build your own easy to install mods on the fly.
You just need to know where the mod files have to go.
Crate a new dir under MODS with a speaking/meaningful name, build the needed dirstructure,
copy over the mod files and activate/deactivate mods very fast and without loosing your original files
no more manual fiddling with orginal files in the mafiaII files structure.
Before i was using JGSME for MafiaII i lost the overview easily what was where intalled,
even i made a lot of backupdirs/files.
I made a fresh MafiaII Install, from there i activate mods only via JGSME.
Another big advantage is, that JSGSME warns you if a mod wants to override fils that are already
used by another mod. So one may easily find out when its necessary to Combine Mods Manually to get them
correctly installed.
Hope that will be useful " data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">
If you have questions, just reply and i'll try to answer.
Update:
This software can be freely distributed via online services.
So i uploaded it to the mafiascene.net server.
Should be available when it passed the approval from the admins " data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">
