A few years ago on the old Mafiascene site there was a mod called Police State, that turned all civilians and cars in Free Ride mode into Police and Gangsters. With the Black Metal 4WD this made for some incredibly fun shoot-outs and chases.


 




I don't have much experience with modding, and I don't really know how to go about recreating this.


 




Would it be difficult to do?

You should replace all cars with Gangster and Police cars. This could be useful for you

Hey,like Cole said you need DCED.Its not so difficult to do.You need to open freeride with DCED and replace all pedestrians with the cops and gangsters by changing their names and same with traffic.Its not so difficult cuz there already is one example of each one.

DCED seems to crash a lot, I get an error violation window.


 




In the list of cars, the only police car that shows up is 'polimTud'. How can I add the other police car, the box one?


 




Edit: Also, only one of the gangster cars are showing up. Is there some way I can find the full list of models?

Yes DCED is very crashy.You need to be very careful working with that.




As you can see there are not exact models in that window there are just names like polimTud which tells it to add exact model which is registered under "polimTud" for example.




Its made like that because of different colors of the cars.So you just add for example  "card_ford" and it will add cars like that to freeride with different colors because one model of 1 car has only 1 color obviously.




So you must find a mission where that car is and add that name in there.If there is not a car like that anywhere there should be a way how to do it but i cant give you a tutorial as i have never done this..

Or do you have to have run the Data Extractor first?


 




2) The game seems to have a hard-coded limit to the amount of police/gangsters you can have chasing you at a time. Seems to be 20 or so, is there a way to increase that?

1) well.you just need to add scene2.bin to freeride folder yes.But you normally dont have the missions folder in the game if you didnt extract the game with xtractor.So that kinda answers your question.For people who already used extractor yes all they need is to copy freeride though.And if someone didnt they need to use the extractor obviously to extract the mission folder first but i hope everyone who uses mods knows that.


 




2) if there is a limit.It probably is coded in a game file not in scene2.bin.I dont know about a file in tables which represents it sorry.If you can find it you probably can change it but its nothing easy to do to play with game limits and files.
