On this day, ten years ago. A game came out. A game which recieved very little media attention both leading up to its release and afterwards too. Yet this extreamly detailed and lovingly crafted work of art that was pushed out by a small team of geniuses from the Czech Republic managed to captivate a small community of gamers from around the globe to unite and keep its heart beating long after many have given up on it. A community who were not prepared to "modernise" with its successor that was so poorly released back in 2010. Instead this small community has stayed loyal to this game even after it was expected to die after the release of its sequel.

I, RubyDragon949, am one of those loyal people. But, today is not the day to bash the sequel. I've done enough of that throughout the past two years. Instead, today is a great day of rememberance for a game that has kept us entertained throughout the years and hopefully will continue to do so for a few more to come  " data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">

So, I close by saying. Let us all band together once more to wish a very happy birthday to a game that, in many ways, changed our lives forever. Be sure to give this game some of your tender love and attention (playing time) on this very special day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAFIA!

Cent'anni, Salute!

Finest regards to all the Mafia community  " data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">

Mafia 1. Lot's of memories come out when I hear this . The so clever and marvelous missions, the driving, the gun shootings, Sam the bastard, Ralph, the freeride extreme, Sarah, the love scene, the church, the countryside. You just have to love this game because it's a classic. It's like those Hollywood films that come in tones every year but you will find only one that you will watch for many times and even learn the quotes by heart. Mafia is a classic game. You will never say that is too old with outdated graphics. You can still play it 10 years after it's release and say <>

Have you ever thought if Mafia 2 would deserve to remember its release date ? Every time I drive in Empire Bay it's like trying to find a lost soul in there that will never reveal its self. We need Mafia III if we want to avoid depression

It's pity, that "Good old Illusion Softworks" never be the same as 2K Czech  <img src="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/sad.png" alt="" data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/sad@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">  They were a very special people, they love black metal so much  <img src="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/biggrin.png" alt="" data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/biggrin@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">  (Look at the names of racers in Mission 6) ... Who ever tried to disassembly mission files, he saw very funny comments and script names.

I love Mafia. Show me one example of game, that had cheat-codes undiscovered for 7 years    Show me one game, that have almost complete SDK built by fans via reverse-engineering. Show me one game, that I can play for ten years and it still makes me cry sometimes (Goodbye, Frank) and makes me angry so often (Fuck you, Mission 6 race), I have very nice memories related with this master piece.

I wholeheartedly agree with all your comments, just perfecto.

I rarely do this, but I do like to add a big Thanks to all the geniuses from the old IS, from the bottom of my heart, while typing this I get kinda sad as well.

Since I realise we likely wont see such a 'thing' again. But thanks IS, and thx mr. Vavra' for sticking to your guns, through and through.   <img src="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/wink.png" alt="" data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/wink@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">
