Hey Mafia fans, great site. Nice mods. Anyways, my attempt to finish Mafia is thwarted by this crash bug. At first exiting the game produced the error message (no problem I thought) and now loading a level has produced the same error. Crashes to desktop. I can't progress since it will not load and multiple attempts to fix still fail. Mafia Version 1.2 CD install, legitimate copy. No-CD file also produces same result.

Is there a solution to this bug?

Thanx

This seems to be some problem in the hard coded files.Best way is to back up all save files (from savegame folder if you dont want to play game from level 1)and re-install it.Than just simply copy your saved game files back into a new installed game folder.

This error happened to me too once.

Thanx Samo for the response. Game works but it will not load the next level and crashes to desktop. V1.2 ls3df.dll file error message each time, going to try to downgrade with V1.1 patch & nocd v1.1. One last reinstall try also. For the Gipper.  <img src="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/tongue.png" alt="" data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/tongue@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">

I'll install Mafia 2, if Mafia 1 is unplayable.  <img src="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/wink.png" alt="" data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/wink@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">

Tried to download LS3DF.DLL file and copy to the Mafia folder?

I downloaded, I tested and I still crashed.  <img src="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/sad.png" alt="" data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/sad@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">

Only the ls3df.dll files located in the patches are compatible, I learned this through trial and error.

QuoteNotice from 2K Games:

When we created Mafia 1 for re-release we used the gameâââ‰â¢s original source code, and with that code comes the gameâââ‰â¢s original bugs. One of these issues occurs for users on Windows 7, XP, and Vista: When a player has completed a handful of missions and quits the game to the desktop, they will receive a message that says âââ¬ÃâGame.exe has stopped responding.âââ¬

Hmm.It didnt happen to me that much on XP and 7.Only when i modified some files.

Have you tried using 1.0 version? Its not that much differant from 1.2.Plus you cant use much mods with 1.2.

Btw you shouldnt give up on M1.Its really the best mafia

And you can create for it almost every type of modification

I loaded a previous save and drove to the loading area that crashed before and it worked, using v1.1 files. I still get the ls3df.dll error on exiting the game using v.1.1 and v1.2 file and various no-cd files, really frustrating this bug.

Used the ls3df.dll files in the water texure mod also. Water is much improved over previous.  <img src="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/wink.png" alt="" data-emoticon="" srcset="/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/wink@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20">

Thanx for your suggestions and help.
