Meh, Initial impressions are not so good.....but they are just initial impressions. These things tend to take a while to grow on me.

M2 had better graphics , better cars and driving and better game mechanics (for all its vast and many flaws)Ãâà Getting screens off it is very iffy.

But the biggest problem I had is they can't even spell....

As I thought this game would grow on me as I played it

Wanted to give an update, now that I am a few more hours into the game

Over all impression 8 out of 10 Stars

The game runs a little sluggy, but that may be my vid card more than the game. After making some adjustments it runs a little smoother

My Ratings

GraphicsÃâà 8 (Mafia 2 was 10)

Details 10 (Mafia 2 was 8 )

CityÃâà 10 Damn thing is huge

Action 4 This is turning out to be a much more cerebral game of investigation with some action interspersed

DrivingÃâà 6 (Mafia 2 was 8 )

Story 9 (Mafia 2 was 4)

Notables... The whole game can play like a freeride, while driving from place to place one of 40 missionsÃâà can pop up of regular police work. Every game seems to want to have notable features, Mafia 2 made a big deal of destructible surroundings, this game has it as well, their big puff point is facial expressions, which are really rather good.

Searching for clues is pretty standard, but the interrogation feature is really nice, and you have to pay attention to the facial expressions to catch them in lies.

The city is amazing, truly LA of the era from the traffic, to the gruddy streets to the red cars (which I haven't tried to see if you can ride...I doubt it.)

Only being in a few chapters the story is compelling and you get the feeling that something is hanging over our boy's head. The first few Chapters are rather tame and geared for training, but the first detective mission is rather complex.

If you are looking for a shooter, this ain't it. But if you are looking for something that will immerse you in the era. have a huge city to roam around in with other things to do and something that might stretch your brain with enough action to keep you busy this is a good buy.

I have L.A. Noire on PC, I hear alot of people don't like L.A. Noire, but L.A. Noire is one of my most favourite games of all time, and I really dig how unique everyones experience is, I love it. 10/10 for me, even though the shooting sucks and the driving is not bad, but it's also not good, I still rate it 10 for an excellent build of a game.

QuoteIs there free ride mode ?

There is, but you'll have to finish all the Traffic quests in order to unlock it.

Can you drive in first person view or is it outside view only?

Nope, no first person. Rockstar made a cinematic camera (totally useless in almost every way except when making video clips from LA Noire maybe) but they didn't bother making first person car view. Although steering wheels work with this game. Totally incomprehensible
